How do I mark a Turnitin assignment?


There are two options for adding grades and comments to a Turnitin assignment: online marking using GradeMark or marking offline.

To add grades and comments using GradeMark:

If you use GradeMark as the marking interface, grades and general comments entered into the GradeMark document viewer will automatically transfer to iLearn’s Submission Inbox and Gradebook.

  1. Click on the Submission Inbox tab.
  2. Click Show All to access the assignments.
  3. Click on the Apple icon pencil icon of the assignment you wish to grade.
  4. The assignment will open up in the GradeMark document viewer.
  5. Enter a score in the Assignment mark assignment mark field showing zerofield.
  6. Click (0) to enter a Comment.

To add grades and comments without using GradeMark:

The default setting in iLearn is to use GradeMark as the marking interface. However, if you do not wish to use GradeMark you can enter grades and comments using the Submission Inbox.

  1. Click on the Options tab.
  2. Select No, use Moodle to grade submissions for Use GradeMark.
  3. Click Save Changes.
  4. Click on the Submission Inbox tab.
  5. Click on the Pencil icon pencil iconof the assignment you wish to grade.
  6. Enter a score.
  7. Click (0) to enter a Comment.

Other options

  1. Click on the Arrow icon arrow icon to download the assignment file.
  2. Click on the Bin icon bin icon to delete the submission from the inbox.
  3. Click Refresh submissions to check if more submissions have been entered or if new originality reports are available.

To download all student papers as a zip file:

  1. Click on the Summary tab.
  2. Under Export, click on the icon of the desired file type.
  3. Click Word icon if you would like files to download as Word Documents.
  4. Click PDF icon if you would like files to download as a PDF.
  5. Click Excel icon if you would like to download an Excel file with a summary of information about all student papers including name, grade, similarity.
